Daniel Bellany
Using new(er) web-based media such as Wikipedia, Facebook, Foursquare, Twitter, and a variety of search engines, Bellany looks for interesting stories and bits of information that he then incorporates into his own creative writing and graphic design pieces. In particular, he is interested in how our access to almost unlimited information has changed the way we view our own personal stories.Excerpts from Bellany's recent book,
"Wiki-People Who Died At Age 32"
Since 2006, Bellany has scoured Wikipedia for people who died at his exact age. When he was 32, he found 117 figures - some obscure and others notable, who had died at that tender age. In addition to writing up a short biography for each 'character', Bellany created original black and white portraits using illustrations he uncovered on image searches.
"Being the same age as each person I researched (when they died), I naturally felt a strong personal connection to their stories. I compared our accomplishments, social situations, and the eras in which we lived. It was a new way of looking at both history and myself. Now that I have moved on to age 33, I find myself contemplating the strange fact that I have lived longer than Bruce Lee, King Richard III and Alexander the Great. It definitely motivates me to work harder and make a difference."

Wiki-People Who Died At Age 32
Davey Allison (1961-1993)Davey Allison was a great American race car driver and son of Bobby Allison, a supposedly even greater American race car driver and member of the legendary and dangerous-sounding 'Alabama Gang'. Despite loving football, Davey was pressured into the family business of driving at high speeds. In his short racing career, he won 19 times and collected $6,724,174 in prize money. However, his most famous race was one in which he came in second - losing to his father at the 1988 Daytona 500. Unlike most racing drivers who died young, he did not meet his fate in a fiery car crash - He died in a fiery helicopter crash.

It is yet to be seen if Davey's son, who was born to his second wife in 1991, will become a third generation racing champion and Alabama "gang" member, as his mother is understandably worried about the health risks of race car driving and has several times disallowed him from participating in local races. Perhaps she has noticed that the profession of 'race car driver' produced by far the highest number of dead 32 year-old 'Wikipeople'.
In addition to his children, Allison's legacy lives on in Hueytown, Alabama, where each year on April 28th, people drive a little bit faster in order to celebrate "Davey Allison Day."
